Chembra peak – ON TOP OF THE WORLD

The Chembra peak which is visible from Vythiri Meadows is the highest peak in Wayanad at 2100 m. above mean sea level. Trekking to this peak is one of the most risky tourist endeavours in Wayanad. It takes almost a day but is worth the effort as the scenic beauty of Wayanad is visible from the top of Chembra Peak. The trek is very challenging and thrilling as it is a very steep and slippery way to the top of the hill. The blue eyed water in the lake at the top of the hill never dries up even in the peak of summer and all through the trek the whispering of the flowing spring which sprouts from the top of the hill accompanies you. The Chembra Peak is 22 km from Vythiri Meadows.

Pakshipathalam

Pakshipathalam in Brahmagiri hills is situated at 7 kms North-East of Thirunelly temple and is 1740m above mean sea level. It is a challenging tourist spot as to reach the destination 17 kms has to be covered through the wild forest. The deep rock caves formed among the thick blocks of rocks at the northern top end of the Brahmagiri is the abode of various birds and wild beasts. (81 km from Vythiri Meadows)

Meenmutty Waterfall

This fascinating waterfall is 12 kms east of Meppadi. The Water falls to a depth of more than 500m in 3 steps and is a scenic and adventurous experience. (32 km from Vythiri Meadows)

Nagarhole Elephant Sanctuary

The Elephant Sanctuary is located in Karnataka, 40 kms from Mananthavady in Wayanad. There are some Jeeps and trucks to regularly transport visitors to this location. (67 km from Vythiri Meadows)

Tholepetty Wildlife Sanctuary

Home to several species of animals like Elephant, Bison, Spotted Deer, Tiger, Leopard, Bear and Wild Boar the Tholepetty Wildlife Sanctuary is a major adventure destination in Wayanad. The best season to visit is Dec-to May, when animals from the neighbouring Bandipur, Nagarhole and Mudamalai frequent this sanctuary due to scarcity of water elsewhere. (66 km from Vythiri Meadows)

Bandipur National Park and Tiger Reserve

The famous Wildlife Sanctuary & Tiger Reserve is located in Karnataka and is also easily accessible from Malabar en route to Ooty. (71km from Vythiri Meadows)

Mudumalai Elephant Park

The renowned Elephant Park of Tamil Nadu is within easy reach and is just 98 kms from Vythiri Meadows.
